SCAPA - SC APWA Midlands Chapter

This past Thursday afternoon on May 28th, SC Asphalt Pavement Association sponsored a SC -American Public Works Association (APWA) Midlands Chapter lunch and learn event at Vulcan Materials Olympia quarry. We had a a completely full tour with over 30 various participants from all over the midlands. Vulcan materials hosted the event and provided tour vans and a guides and gave us a great overview of their operations and how they support our infrastructure and community here in SC. A special shout our to Denise Hallett, Cliff Bickley, Jason Bundrick, and Chris Adams for being great hosts. SCAA's Executive Director Jessica Palmer was also present and went over how much we depend on aggregates to build and maintain our roads and the need for educate everyone on the importance of aggregate in our everyday lives. After the presentations were given, a tour was provided and everyone got to see the true size of the pit by traveling deep into it and observing how the materials are processed into different materials used by various industries. Everyone commented on the how much they enjoyed the event and its was a success! 

Already looking forward to the next Lunch and Learn Event in August with SC-APWA!
